Discernment is key in a world full of evil

First giving honour to God, who is the head of my life. I want to thank God for everything that he has done for me thus far. God has been so good to me, he has truly brought me from a mighty long way.

As I reflect, I can affirm that I have witnessed Gods intervention in my life on every occasion, without fail and I am sincerely grateful.

I am grateful for his love, his grace and his mercies. Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me all the days of my life and I shall dwell in the house of the Lord forever (Psalms 23:6).

In our journey of enhancing our faith this year, I want us to understand that we are going to encounter various circumstances, that may challenge our discernment and distract us from following Gods truth.

I recently came across a TikTok live stream. This particular live stream is frequently used as a platform to spread the word of God and invites people on to share their stories and relay it back to God.

On the live, I witnessed a man who was invited on the platform. He claimed to be a Christian but was engaging in magic practices that appeared contradictory to the word of God. At first it seemed harmless, it was your typical ‘pick a card’ type of play. However, the longer he was on, the more things was just not sitting right.

The live streamer wanted to move on from his ‘magic tricks’ and asked the man if he knows about Jesus. He said ‘hm yeah that name sounds familiar.’ You could see the change in his aura at this point. She was telling him about God and stated that if he is a Christian he should not be entangling himself with magic. You could tell he did not like this and proceeded to ask if he can put her name down in his book.

She continuously stated ‘no, do not put my name down in your book, put Jesus’ name in your book.’ And this is what really stood out to me and unequivocally shocked me…he put the live streamers name in his book, turned it around to show that he wrote it anyway and as he closed the book, the front cover stated ‘death note’ and removed himself from the live instantly.

I went on his TikTok page and he was on live with another lady. He presented himself as a completely different person. Adopted a new accent and fabricated about where he was from. I have never seen anything like this in my life! I had to just block him immediately after that. It reminded me of the scripture that states in 2 Corinthians 11:14; ‘and no wonder, for Satan himself transformed into an angel of light.’

This scripture tells us that Satan can present himself as a good and righteous person represented as an ‘angel of light.’ We must not be swayed. We can be so easily deceived and fall short of the glory of God if we do not have the right perspicacity and are not led by God.

The Bible warns us against many things such as practising sorcery and divination in Deuteronomy 18:10-12. Yet this man stated he was a Christian but was indulging in dark acts.

As fellow believers we have to be like the watchman (Ezekiel 33:6). We have to be alert, have the ability to discern spiritual matters and warn others of potential dangers. We have to stand guard and be observant!

The Bible warns us that the devil prowls around like a roaring lion, seeking to devour those who are not vigilant (1 Peter 5:8). Therefore, it is crucial we exercise caution. The world is filled with so much evil and the enemy will incessantly attempt to undermine and afflict you, aiming to drag you down into despair and destruction if we are not careful.

As we continue the rest of this year, I want us to pray for Gods guidance and protection. We need God more than ever. So let us continue to seek ye first the kingdom of God and strengthen our relationship with him. Let us put on the full armour of God that you may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil.

‘For we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high places’ – Ephesians 6:12.

Stay blessed xx
