Faith is the bridge to Gods heart
Welcome back to another blog! As we soon approach the new month of October I pray that the month ahead will be blessed and I pray that God will continue to guide and use you for his glory.
In
Hebrews 11:1 it states; ‘Now faith is the assurance of things hoped for, the
conviction of things not seen.’
Faith
is a force that propels us to believe in what we cannot see and to sustain hope
during our difficult times, even when we do not understand how God is going to work
things out for our good. Faith brings comfort and can provide strength and
guidance.
But
why is faith so important to God?
In
the book of Hebrews 11:6 it says that; ‘without faith it is impossible to
please him, for whoever would draw near to God must believe that he exists and
that he rewards those who seek him. Faith is proof of our belief and trust in
God's plan for us, his goodness, his grace and his mercies. It is displayed
before God that although we do not fully understand His plan for us, we can
trust that He will never lead us astray and everything He does is for our good.
Furthermore,
faith can strengthen our relationship with God and helps us stay strong even when
things get hard!
Faith
is the glue that connects us to God
The
story of Abraham is a great example of that. In Genesis 12:2-3 God promises
Abraham that he will make him into a great nation, and He will bless him and
make his name great, and will be a blessing. God promised to bless those who
bless him, and whoever curses him, God will curse; and all peoples on earth
will be blessed through Abraham.
In
Genesis 21:5 it states that Abraham was 100 years old when Sarah gave birth to
Isaac. Abraham had to wait 25 years to have his first son. However, during the
wait Abraham put his faith in God in the midst of his waiting season even when it
became unbearable. Although there are instances where he struggled with doubt, he
did not allow his doubts to override the promises of God.
Abraham ultimately comes to a conclusion that God was going to fulfil his promise therefore placing his full trust in God and believing in his promise for him and didn’t allow the nature of life to get in the way of his faith and confidence in God. In the book of Romans 4:20-22 it tells us that Abraham never wavered in believing in God’s promise. In fact, his faith grew stronger, and in this he brought glory to God. He was fully convinced that God is able to do whatever he promises. And because of Abraham’s faith, God counted him as righteous. Because of Abrahams faith, not only was he considered righteous but he became the father of many nations, fulfilling Gods promise.
